HC3 is Accepting Applications for Virtual Leadership Development Program

USAID’s Health Communication Capacity Collaborative (HC3) project is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for a Virtual Leadership Development Program (VLDP) focused on strengthening the leadership and management skills of teams working in Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC). This VLDP is for English-speaking health teams working in SBCC.

Funded by USAID, the main objective of this SBCC-focused VLDP is to strengthen individual and team leadership and management practices so that participants can anticipate and respond to challenges in maintaining and extending gains made through SBCC. Without strong leadership capabilities, the ability to anticipate and respond to changes will be limited and will reduce the chance for success.

Please note that this is not an SBCC technical skills program. The VLDP will introduce leadership and management practices and skills (including communications, critical thinking, and problem solving). The VLDP will give teams the opportunity to use these skills in successfully addressing a real and timely challenge identified by the teams themselves.

OUTLINE OF THE PROGRAM

The VLDP has two phases. Phase 1 is a 13-week Internet-based program hosted on www.LeaderNet.org. During the first phase, teams work through seven learning modules with expert virtual facilitation from experienced leadership, SBCC, and organizational development specialists. Teams learn leading and managing skills that they use to identify and develop an action plan for achieving a SBCC-related result. Phase II of the program is a period of implementation as teams work to implement their action plans. During phase II, teams share their learnings with one another and continue to receive coaching and support from the facilitators.

This VLDP SBCC will launch on September 15, 2014. Phase I will end on December 5, 2014. We will take a month break and resume for phase II from January 5th to May 1, 2015. The deadline for applications HAS BEEN EXTENDED to August 22 (it was previously August 18, 2014).

ELIGIBILITY

The VLDP is for SBCC working groups/teams in both public and private sector organizations.

The VLDP enrolls teams, not individuals. Teams should be working to address a health-related SBCC goal. Team size may vary between 4 and 10 people. The program is designed for teams that consistently work together on a routine basis on a common objective or goal and that can commit fully to the program requirements.

This VLDP is being offered free of charge to qualified teams. The cost of this program is being supported by USAID. All qualified applications will be considered, with applications from public sector health agencies and local NGOs especially encouraged.
